At E3 earlier this year, Nintendo unveiled a unique little peripheral for the Wii called the Wii Zapper, which allowed gamers to blend their Wiimote and Nunchunk into a virtual lightgun. Some new details have emerged on the Wii Zapper since, and it appears Link and his trusty bow will be the ones guiding us through the art of wielding virtual weapons of mass destruction.
The Wii Zapper, which is set to retail on November 19th this year, will come bundled with the game
Link's Crossbow Training. Link's Crossbow Training, which will revisit the same Hyrule of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, is to designed guide players through the basic use of the Wii Zapper. Technically not a full blown game, the title will (much like Wii Sports and Wii Play) provide players with a number of diversion to help them become accustomed with the new peripheral.
A number of flown blown titles are already in production that specifically make use of the new functionality of the Wii Zapper; titles announced so far include Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Capcom), Ghost Squad (Sega) and Medal of Honor Heroes 2 (Electronic Arts).
Of course, whether the Wii Zapper can emulate a proper feeling of gunplay as well as a dedicated lightgun remains to be seen; the Wii's reliance on a sensor removes the player's capacity to line up the gun with the sights on screen, which is a large part of the appeal behind lightgun titles.
We'll have to wait until November 19th to find out.

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles looks like a win. If I get a Wii, I see no reason not to own this game. |

Okay, I admit, that's actually kinda cute! :o But I don't have the money for all these different peripherals. I guess it depends on whether or not I'm really interested in a game that uses it? But what's been talked about so far is just sort of meh. |
