As of November 15th, Xbox Live will be a wopping five years old, and my how big has it gotten! From just a way to play Halo against the guys down the hall in your building to being one of the largest online markets for videogame demos, movies, and loads of online content!

To celebrate, Microsoft is giving away one free Xbox Live Arcade game, either Hexic 2 or Carcossonne, to any active user on Xbox Live from the 15th until the 16th and that's not all. Those that have stuck it through with Microsoft since 2002 will be rewarded with 500 gamer points that they can use at the market place.

Along with this, Microsoft has announced that beginning December 4th, along with a free update, old time favorites on the original Xbox will be available for download.

As to whether or not this will replace Microsoft's plans of backwards compatibility is not yet known but for now many thanks and many wishes for Xbox live for five fun filled years.

Is that game any good? The idea sounded nice, but I haven't played it.

It's impressive to see how much the service was going. It was only a few years ago that Xbox Live was an experimental idea that had some good ideas but little scope.

Now? Now it's the centre of gaming culture; bringing the worldwide gaming community together in a way that was never possible before. For all the next generation technological leaps, it's Xbox Live that's the real gaming evolution.

I downloaded Carcossonne, grumpily, HE made me do it, because Michael knew if I didn't get it I'd regret it.
