Halo 3 sets new sales records

This will be quite possibly the shortest news story ever for VGC, but the tally is in, and Halo 3 is now proudly holds the record for highest first day gross of any entertainment release in history.

Bringing in over one hundred and seventy million dollars in its first day alone, Halo 3 beat out every Harry Potter, Spider Man, or any other media darling ever in terms of first day sales.

Who knows how much money this unstoppable force will have made during its entire run? I can't begin to imagine.

Way to go Bungie!

In fact, recent reports indicate that Halo 3 has been so sucessful that the official Xbox website, Xbox.com, temporarily went offline last night due to the excessive overload on Microsoft's servers.

Now that is an impressive achievement.

I think the userbase to console ratio of this game from these sales alone is something like... 3 to 1. I wouldn't be surprised if half the 360 userbase ended up having this game within a few weeks.
