Sony Computer Entertainment America have announced that a new model of the PSP, PSP-3000, will be available in North America this October, in a bundle in the previously announced Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters entertainment pack, which was revealed at E3 2008.

Sony says that the new iteration will include a new LCD screen that resolves (unknown if it totally does it, or it's a partial fix) the "ghosting" previous models had with some games. It will also include anti-reflection technology, so you can play in the sunlight more clearly while being outdoors.

The "ring" on the back of the system has also been shrunk.

At least the previous PSP redesign had a point.

Don't get me wrong, I play my PSP religiously and adore the handheld to pieces, but "lazy" isn't even adequate in this case.

The new PSP will also have an inbuilt microphone due to consumer desire for it.
Of course that means Sony actually listening when people talk about other consoles which can only be a good thing.

I seriously, honestly, hate it when I have to hit pause while I wait for the car to travel past the severely sun-lit areas. I hate it even more if I don't hit that button fast enough. -__-
