Bioware Resumes Command of KOTOR

Bioware, the recently acquired asset of EA (the gaming Sith Lords), has taken back control of the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic series. They developed the first title, which is quite possibly one of the greatest games of all time. It's not just my opinion. It's a fact. Scientifically provable and everything!

When the second game was announced to be developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a lot of gamers were scared to death, yours truly included, about the direction the series would take.

Much to our sheer joy, the second title was a gem as well, give or take a quasi lame final boss. (Floating ligthsabers that chase you in a circle? Really?!)

Well, while we don't know if the third installment is going to make the jump to MMO, (please God, don't let this happen! I can't deal with Wookies of Warcraft!!) we do know, as of today, that the game is being developed by the original crew.

An EA investor report listed a game simply called KoTOR as an ongoing project. Regrettably, no further details about the title were given.

If this game does stay with the single player format of the first two titles, I have no doubt that it will be phenomenal. If it makes the MMO leap, the potential exists for an industrial strength pooch screwing.

An MMO, if done very, very right, could be cool I suppose, but why mess with a proven product?

Kotor II's gameplay drilled 1's into the ground.

As far as BioWare is concerned, im all like 'eh, as long as the story is finished and the game isn't rushed out the door'

BioWare are good, but they aren't THAT good

By God though, I hope it doesn't turn into an MMO. EA announced an MMO in Kotor's time period a while ago. I was hella sad.

KOTOR 2 was an okay game, but nothing when compared to the first game in the series. I think it's great that Bioware has decided to take charge of the 3rd KOTOR game.
