Amazon cuts Xbox 360 prices; announcement by Microsoft expected

Amazon UK has cut the price of all Xbox 360 SKUs on it's website this morning, following news late last night that a Dutch retailer had detailed euro-priced cuts to the console, whilst the German FT ran a story admitting that Microsoft will drop the price of the console today.

The Arcade pack on Amazon is now £149.99, whilst the retailer retailer is selling the Premium pack for £189.99 and the Elite for £249.99.

This price drop makes the Xbox 360 the cheapest console on the European market currently. A Nintendo Wii in the UK currently costs around £179.98 on Amazon.

Any official announcement from Microsoft at this stage is going to be a little late, but expect to see prices slashed all across Europe pretty soon.

And I wouldn't hold my breath, but Sony may not want to be THAT much more expensive than the competition. So while not likely, a PS3 price cut is quite possible.
