The "Best of GC" nominees have been announced. To be eligible for nomination the games must be playable at the convection in Leipzig, Germany. The winners will be announced by tommorrow, August 24th.

More than 25 different games were nominated in 11 categories avaliable. However one thing is for certain; Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 has won the Best of Multiplatform award after being the only game nominated for the category.

Best of Multiplatform - Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Konami)

Best of PC - Sam & Max Season One (Telltale Games), Starcraft II (Blizzard Entertainment), Hellgate: London (Flagship Studios), The Settlers: Rise of an Empire (Blue Byte), Crysis (Crytek), Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (Splash Damage).

Best of Xbox 360 - BioShock (2K Boston/2K Australia), Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Konami), Sacred 2: Fallen Angel (Ascaron Entertainment), Eternal Sonata (Tri-Crescendo), Kane & Lynch: Dead Men (Io Interactive).

Best of PSP - God of War: Chains of Olympus (Ready at Dawn), Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Konami), Silent Hill: Origins (Climax).

Best of PS2 - Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Konami), Crash of the Titans (Radical Entertainment), Singstar - Die Toten Hosen (Sony Computer Entertainment), Buzz! - The Hollywood Quiz (Relentless).

That seems to be a very mixed bag of choices.

Especially depressing is the Wii list.

The Leipzig Games Convention seems to have a lot more common sense than some though, so I'll be intereted in seeing the results.

A mixed bag? There's really nothing that interesting there. The only game I'd be arsed to play would be Starcraft II, and in all likelihood I won't even bother.

It's not a terrible list, but it's definately uninspired, like they were "struggling* to think of games to add to the list, there were so few justified titles to add.
