Leipzig GC 2007: Devil May Cry 4: Different Consoles; Same Game

Oftentimes when a series crosses from one console to another it usually means significant differences, and perhaps sacrifices, in quality or gameplay. The same cannot be said of the upcoming multi-platform Devil May Cry 4; the only noticeable difference here is the lack of differences.

PS fans of the Devil May Cry series who treasured the exclusivity will have to make room for their Xbox counterparts. The experience is identical in that both systems, as seen on the two-part playable demo at Leipzig Games Convention, have the same ten minute adventure through a church, courtyard and Fortuna castle all the while you have access to Nero’s, gun, sword and the demonic arm, to combat hordes of monsters including the fire demon Berial. This is exactly the same as the demo previously released for the PS3 version of the game.

Capcom obviously took pains because while the games ran side by side on kiosk at the convention the Xbox 360 version was every bit the PS3’s twin, with the same leveling systems, graphics and gameplay. Thanks to their development efforts DMC4 will be same across the platforms, be it PS3, Xbox 360 or even possibly the PC (if the computer’s specs can handle it, naturally).

Image quality, content, frame rate makes the games difference almost non-existent...DMC isn’t losing a Sony, it’s gaining a Microsoft.

I've heard mixed opinions about this Devil Trigger system, and I'm still not sold on this new kid, Nero, but Devil May Cry is a series that really shines when it wants to. I'm apprehensive, but I'm still expecting a quality title.

The fact that it's coming out on both formats is smart business sense for Capcom considering the PS3's poor performance, and it'll also gives people who can't afford to buy a PS3 (like myself) a chance to play it.

Certain companies just have a magic for bringing out the best in a console even if it is outgunned in everything else. Capcom is one of these companies especially so I say if Microsoft guys get a chance to play the best action game of all as well as the Sony people, I say more to gain. As long as the game does not bomb, which I doubt it considering that they are using a similar system to DMC3 with a God of War twist and maybe more, I just wonder if Hostile Groove is going to do the music for DMC4.
