During Gamespot's Live E3 2008 Stage Show, Emerson Escobar, the producer of Buzz: Master Quiz for the PSP, talked about how trophies would be given out as prizes for accomplishments, such as answering questions within a half a second.

Obviously, someone asked if this meant that the recent addition of trophies to the PS3 was coming to the PSP. Escobar laughed nervously. "Check back with us later," he said, grinning--and then declining to go into further detail.

Earlier, Sony had announced they would introduce the ability to extend a user's PlayStation Network ID to a single identity for the PS3, PSP, and PlayStation-related websites (an example being the PlayStation Underground). So doing a system similar to the Xbox360 and Windows sharing Achievements, but for Trophies, would make sense.

Sony has yet to comment, but it sounds that this rumor is likely valid, being more of a "when" than an "if".

My distaste for the PS3 is well known, but I've been a strong fan of the PSP; it at least has a large collection of high quality games. The only problem I can see with this is the fact that PSP games can't be patched, so its unlikely that we'll see Trophies for games that are already on, like with the PS3.
