Ensemble Studios, makers of Halo Wars confirmed that the Covenant will be a playable side in the game. The catch is that they will not have a campaign mode and will only be usable in multiplayer.

If they would also announce the Flood as a playable side, it would make the game complete. Halo Wars is set to be released sometime during the spring of 2009.

Hmmm. not too sure about this; it's exclusive release on the xbox 360 will alienate most RTS players. Only the true Halo fans will not wait until it's release on PC

Well seeing as this is a prequel, does the flood fit into the storyline or were they revealed in the first installment of the Halo series? I thought that they were unheard of prior to Halo uno.

From what I remember of the games, the Flood appeared for the first in Halo CE, as before that, even Cotana (is that her name? lol) didnt know anything about them until she was uploaded into the servers on Halo, and what I think is that the Covenant didnt know what they were until they actually unlocked the doors and went inside to have a look
