E3 2007 News
IGN has posted confirmed E3 line-ups from a decent list of companies on its Big E3 Games List. Notables include Resident Evil 5, Crysis Warhead, Mirror’s Edge, LOTR: Conquest and Killzone 2.
E3 2007 was a change from the past; an intentionally downscaled event intended to put the focus back on the games, and away from the glitz and glamour of the past. It may have succeeded, but the reception from the people in the industry itself has been mixed if nothing else.
As E3 2007 slowly began to wind down yesterday, it would see itself ending now in a whisper, but a controversial bang of confusion, angry and downright animosity towards the already damaged Sony Company and their constantly troubled Playstation 3.
While this Wii exclusive game, titled "Resident Evil the Umbrella Chronicles", has been rumored heavily since before E3, Nintendo still had a surprise up their sleeve regarding the control scheme.
With the upcoming late July release of Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's, and the holiday 07 debut of Guitar Hero III, fans of head banging, hard rocking rhythm music games have even more cigarette lighter raising goodness to look forward to with former GH partners Harmonix debuting their new game "Rock Band."
Many of the Smash Bros. series fans may have still been feeling rather stale after Nintendo’s failure to deliver Smash Bros. Brawl on the desired early 2007 date. But news of its new confirmed launch date; December 3rd has surely neutralised any hard feelings.
This was Sony's big one, guys. With direct presentation by the creator of the Metal Gear franchise himself, Hideo Kojima, Konami surprised everyone at E3 2007 by unveiling a completely new, English language trailer video for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots at Sony's Press Conference!
Sony has unveiled a re-designed PlayStation Portable which is slimmer, lighter, and comes with a video-out port for watching content on TVs. From a distance the PSP is virtually unchanged but once you get a grip on the new PSP you realise the portable console is now 19% slimer and 33% lighter.

A new revamped Xbox 360, designed to store and display high-definition video, will go on sale in Europe on 24 August. This proves to many gamers that the rumours were right in Xbox360 releasing a new weapon within the console wars.
Microsoft are the first of the big three to get things in motion this year, kicking off their press conference in style, and maintaning a good show throughout. Highlights include an exclusive playthrough of Rock Band, a set release date for Mass Effect, and some very interesting sales figures...
A live action short film, director by Neil Blomkamp, the would-be director of the indefininately delayed Halo movies, shows a USNC weapons factory assembly line where the inconic Halo warthogs about being constructed, and Halo marines suited up in the series trademark armour.
Undoubtably one of the biggest highlights of the entire show, Assasin's Creed is quickly turning out to be a very ambitious title, and could turn out to be one of the biggest titles of this generation of game, if the gameplay footage is anything to go by.
Guitar Hero, the phenomenally fun smash hit rhythm game series, has now had its third installment unveiled today by Activision. Apart from the updated graphics you'd expect with the current gen consoles, a new and much awaited twist has been added to the title: online multiplayer.
You're probably tired of hearing about the PS3's price-cut from $600 to $500 earlier yesterday, and it seems that developers and publishers are just as underwhelmed as the consumer; MGS4 developers Konami have their doubt doubts, and are already considering bringing the franchise to other consoles.
Gamersyde.com reports a screenshot of Killzone 2 was leaked out this morning. Seb Downie, QA Manager at Guerilla Games has stated, "Yup guys, it's real. It [went out] a little bit early, but it's 100% ingame". Killzone 2 is stated to make an appearance tonight at E3.
Last night, Sony (more out of nessecity than anything else) were the first company this generation to announce a price reduction reduction for their console when they announce a price drop for the PS3, but industry analysts predict that Microsoft may not be too far behind with a price-drop for the 360.
As it prepares to lauch the newest installments of Madden, Fifa, Tiger Woods, Need for Speed, Fight Night... etc. etc. etc., Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello steps forward and gets on his soapbox, criticizing the industry for rehashing ideas and games over and over, with little innovation, whilst everyone else is in on the joke.
As this years E3 creeps close, the lovely guys at Eurogamer have gone ahead and compiled a list of confirmed titles set to appear at this years downsized event, so that we don't have to.
