This was Sony's big one, guys. With direct presentation by the creator of the Metal Gear franchise himself, Hideo Kojima, Konami surprised everyone at E3 2007 by unveiling a completely new, English language trailer video for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots at Sony's Press Conference!

First, the bad news: The release date for MGS4 has been up in the air for a while now, but the trailer confirmed at least confirmed a general realse date: Early 2008. Konami's fiscal year ends in March 2008, so the game is guaranteed to be out before then.

The newest installment in the Metal Gear Solid series is shaping up to be a very impressive one, as the first English language trailer shows; the trailer starts off with Snake infiltrating Ocelot's own territory to take the war head on, as a discussion between Solid Snake, General Campbell and Naomi Hunter plays over the scenes. Although the sequence is light on new information, its visual quality surpasses even that set in previous trailers.

Raiden fans won't be disappointed either. The second half of the trailer shows a dramatic battle between the undead vampire-a-like Vamp and the fully kitted out Ninja Raiden.

Please note: This trailer requires an up to date version of Windows Media Player or QuickTime to be viewed.

I made not be a big fan of the series but this game's graphics surpasses FFVII: AC and are pretty damn impressive, Hideo sure had good reason to keep this held back. I would say that already having English voice acting and soon having a playable demo for us to see at TGS, MGS4 is possibly shaping up to being maybe one of the biggest games in history.

This game has been shown with more interest then fans during Metal Gear Solid 2 - It has to be the best selling MGS when it comes out!

P.S An interesting fact here - Did you know that the person in liquids helicopter is Naomi within this newest E3 trailer... Whose side is she on?

You noticed that too?

I was quite surprised when I saw that. The most obvious answer is that she's working covertly, pretending to be on the enemy side so that she can relay information to the "good guys", in a similar way to Eve in Metal Gear Solid 3.

Of course, Hideo Kojima is rarely known for doing the obvious...
