E3 2007: Assassin's Creed demo blows audiences away

Undoubtably one of the biggest highlights of the entire show, Assasin's Creed is quickly turning out to be a very ambitious title, and could turn out to be one of the biggest titles of this generation of game, if the gameplay footage is anything to go by.

The demo starts out atop the a church tower overlooking the holy city of Jerusalem, where the lead character, Altair, proceeds to jump a few hundred feet, conveniently into a pile of hair. Quickly jumping out, he makes his way through the overcrowded streets in search of a certain thief.

What makes this interesting is the way in which Altair interacts with Pedestrian. Each person goes about their business with little interest in Altair himself, but Altair must still be careful in order to not attract attention to himself. He can politely move people aside from his as if here were a casual pedestrian simply finding his way throug the streets, but some pedestrians, such as an overeager beggar, can be trickier to deal with. Altair of course, deal with this begger by hitting him for six.

After a number of rooftop escapes, Altair reaches his target, and the games combat system is given a chance to show itself. Although it appears to lack complexity, Assasin's Creed is about immersion more than anything else, and a simple countering system allows the feel of battle to flow freely with managing to be dynamic and varied.

His target makes his escape, and Altair has no choice but to make haste, chasing the thief through the streets itself, which has no become a frenzy of scared pedestrians that have become an obstacle between Altair and the thief. A long chase sequences occurs, where our lead travels from the streets to the rooftops to the streets again before finally catching up this target and subduing him in dramatic fashion.

Head over to Assassin's Haven, to take a look at the E3 Assassin's Creed demo video!

Since Words wants a comment so badly. I, obviously, have high hopes for this game, and the demo looks really good. It doesn't look like a really fast paced game persay to me, but the chase part was cool. Assassiny goodness. mash: My one thought is the crowd part, I hope having to shove people and beggars around wouldn't get annoying with time.

Now I feel like buying an XBox 360 just for this game. That looked awesome-sauce!
