While this Wii exclusive game, titled "Resident Evil the Umbrella Chronicles", has been rumored heavily since before E3, Nintendo still had a surprise up their sleeve regarding the control scheme. Reggie Fils-Aime announced that coming to the market during the '07 holiday season will be the new peripheral, the Wii Zapper, that combines the Wii remote and nunchuck into a single unit as a fully functioning Wii gun.

The game is said to tie up several loose ends throughout the RE series, and the game play itself is to be a third person, over the shoulder type scheme similar to RE4, but with the twist of having the advantage (?) of the Wii's new controller combining lightgun. Players will be able to play as two of the series protagonists in each of the game's four chapters. They are as follows:

Ch 1 - Jill and Chris
Ch 2 - Claire and Leon
Ch 3 - Jill and Carlos
Ch 4 - Leon and Ada

The new gun peripheral will ship in a few months with the announced MSRP of $19.99, and will include an as yet unannounced piece of Nintendo first party software. As a new convert to the Resident Evil fan club and as a Wii owner who has been desperately waiting for a game to justify owning the console, I cannot wait to start blasting some zombies in REUC!
